چکیده

Methods Thirty seven patients with non-ischemic DCM underwent intracoronary injection of autologous bone marrow derived mononuclear cells. All patients gave informed consent for stem cell therapy and CMR studies. Mononuclear cells separated from aspirated bone marrow were injected into right and left coronary arteries. All patients had baseline CMR, while 10 underwent followup CMR (1.5 T, Magnetom Avanto, Siemens, Germany). Short axis cine-CMR was performed from the base to the apex of left ventricle (slice thickness 6-8 mm, interslice gap 2 mm). Images were analyzed for change in left ventricular (LV) and right ventricular (RV) ejection fraction (EF), corresponding ventricular volumes [enddiastolic (EDV), end-systolic (ESV) and stroke volume (SV)], and LV mass. Wilcoxon signed rank test was used to compare preand post-CMR results. Mann-Whitney U test was used to correlate change in functional class and CMR results

Left atrial volume and function are predictive of cardiac death or appropriate device therapy in patients with non-ischemic dilated cardiomyopathy

Background Several small studies have suggested that left atrial enddiastolic volume (LAEDV) is associated with adverse outcomes in patients with non-ischemic dilated cardiomyopathy (NICM). However, left atrial function, assessed through either LA end-systolic volume (LAESV) or the LA ejection fraction (LAEF) may provide incremental predictive utility. We sought to evaluate the prognostic value...

Evaluation of Cardiac Mitochondrial Function by a Nuclear Imaging Technique using Technetium-99m-MIBI Uptake Kinetics

Mitochondria play an important role in energy production for the cell. The proper function of a myocardial cell largely depends on the functional capacity of the mitochondria.  Therefore it is necessary to establish a novel and reliable method for a non-invasive assessment of mitochondrial function and metabolism in humans. Although originally designed for evaluating myocardial perfusion, 99mTc...

Magnetic resonance criteria for future trials of cardiac resynchronization therapy.

Current patient selection criteria for Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy (CRT), an efficacious treatment for heart failure, include no measure of disconjugate cardiac contractility other than prolonged QRS on electrocardiogram. Using cardiac magnetic resonance imaging, we examined the roles of cardiac asymmetry, asynchrony, and circumferential strain in DCC with the principal aim of generating ...

Left ventricular noncompaction as diagnosed by established cardiac magnetic resonance imaging criteria is not associated with increased adverse events compared to non-ischemic dilated cardiomyopathy

Background Left ventricular noncompaction (LVNC) is classified by the American Heart Association as a primary genetic cardiomyopathy and is attributed to defects in cardiac embryogenesis resulting in the intrauterine arrest of the compaction of the loose meshwork that makes up the fetal myocardium. From echocardiographic data, the prevalence of LVNC has been estimated at 0.05% of the general po...

The value of myocardial perfusion imaging in differentiating between idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy from the ischemic form [Persian]

Introduction: Differentiating between ischemic cardiomyopathy (ICM) and idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy (IDCM) is important as coronary revascularization can improve prognosis in the ischemic subgroup. Due to inherent problems of coronary angiography in patients with depressed ejection fraction (EF) introducing a noninvasive tool to diagnose those who will benefit from angiography seems...
